What is ALIMCO?

Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) is functioning under the Administrative Control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. It is 100% owned Govt. of India Central Public Sector Enterprises with an objective of benefiting the persons with disability to the maximum extent possible by manufacturing Rehabilitation Aids for persons with disabilities and by promoting, encouraging and developing the availability, use, supply and distribution of Artificial Limbs and other Rehabilitation Aids to the disabled persons of the country.

What are roles and responsibilities of CSC VLEs?

The roles and responsibilities of CSC VLEs are:
• Create awareness about ALIMCO initiatives
• Registration of divyangjans & senior citizens on ALIMCO CSC portal
• Support ALIMCO team during Assessment Camp
• Support ALIMCO team during Distribution Camp.

What is VLE commission for registering beneficiary?

VLE will receive Rs 40/- as commission per verified application after registration of each beneficiary.

What documents are required for registration of divyang citizens?

Documents listed below are required for registration of divyang citizens:

  1. Identification proof (Aadhar Card)
  2. Photograph of Beneficiary
  3. Disability certificate (minimum disability should be 40%)
  4. Income Certificate (family income should be less than 15,000 per month)

    • Income certificate should have date of issue on it. (Mandatory)
    • In most of the cases income certificate issued by revenue department itself contains validity of the certificate. In case validity is not indicated on certificate, 3 years from the date of issue is the validity of the income certificate.
    • Certificate issued by non revenue department of the districts like local MP/MLA/Gram Pradhan has 6 months validity.
    • BPL Card (in case income certificate not available)

What documents are required for registration of senior citizens?

Documents listed below are required for registration of senior citizens:

  1. Identification proof (Aadhar Card)
  2. Photograph of Beneficiary
  3. Income Certificate (family income should be less than 15,000 per month)

    • Income certificate should have date of issue on it. (Mandatory)
    • In most of the cases income certificate issued by revenue department itself contains validity of the certificate. In case validity is not indicated on certificate, 03 year from the date of issue is the validity of the income certificate
    • Certificate issued by non revenue department of the districts like local MP/MLA/Gram Pradhan has 6 months validity.
    • BPL Card (in case income certificate not available)

What kind of products are provided by ALIMCO?

The Corporation produces 355 different types of quality aids and appliances required by orthopaedically, visually & hearing handicapped persons.

The product range includes Orthotic and Prosthetic appliances for Upper & Lower Extremities, Spinal Braces, Cervical Collars, Traction Kits, Rehabilitation Aids like Wheel Chairs, Crutches and Tri Wheelers etc. The Corporation also provides special tools and equipments required for fitment of Orthotic & Prosthetic assemblies by the Limb Fitting Centres.

d. Spinal orthotic (Braces for neck & back)

3. For Visually Handicapped

i. Braille short hand machine

i. Pocket type Hearing Aid
ii. Digital type Behind the Ear (BTE) Hearing Aid

How does ALIMCO manages verification process?

Document verification process involves following steps:

Step 1: Documents would be reviewed & verified by ALIMCO rehabilitation experts/representative to assure the eligibility of beneficiaries for getting the aids & appliances as per the scheme.

Step 2: In case the documents are found to be acceptable in terms of the criteria laid down in the scheme, a SMS will be sent to beneficiary to confirm successful registration.

Step 3: Else, regret SMS to the beneficiaries will be sent with the predefined reasons for unacceptability of the registration.

What are the steps involved in assessment process?

Assessment process comprises of 3 stages:

Stage I: Pre-assessment

Step 1: Once a sizable number of beneficiaries registered & uploaded on the ALIMCO portal, request will be made to the concerned District Magistrate/Collector for providing date & venue for clinical assessment of the registered beneficiaries.

Step 2: The assessment camps will be organized cluster/ block wise depending upon number of beneficiaries registered in each cluster/block.

Step 3: Once assessment camp dates & venues are decided for clinical assessment, the registered beneficiaries shall be informed about the assessment camp through SMS, phone calls, newspaper advertisements, CSCs VLEs, various machineries of District Administration (BDO/ADO/Gram Pradhan/Asha Worker etc.) & local public representatives. Cluster/block wise list will be provided to District Administration & other stakeholders, enabling targeted publicity of the assessment camp.

Stage II: Assessment Camp

Step 4: Assessment camps are organized in consideration of variable factors like total number of beneficiaries to assess for various aid & assistive devices in a cluster/block as per the resource & infrastructure availability and sitting arrangement as per the norms of social distancing, beneficiaries will be called in batches.

Step 5: Assessment of the divyangjans & senior citizens will be done by ALIMCO’s authorized rehabilitation experts for the suitable aids & appliances depending on their disability/infirmity. An acknowledgement slip will be provided to beneficiary & duplicate copy will be counter signed by beneficiary and would be kept for ALIMCO’s records

Stage III: Post-assessment

Step 6: Cluster /Block wise list of beneficiaries will be provided to District Administration.

Step 7: Financial summary all the details will be sent to headquarter for onward submission to Ministry for approval of distribution camps.

Step 8: Beneficiary data will be uploaded for Assessment Done in the Corporation website so as to be visible for public viewing in the dashboard.

Is there any guarantee period for the products?

Yes, there is a guarantee period for six months against any manufacturing defect/workmanship on the products. Hearing Aids are guaranteed for one year.

Is free replacement is given against damage/breakage?

Yes, if the product has failed due to manufacturing defects within six months from the date of purchase, free replacement is provided. Also suggestions for improvement of the product based on individual experience are incorporated in the product/product design, if found suitable.

What is the normal delivery time?

Normally within 45 days from the receipt of order products will be delivered to the concerned person.

Is sales tax levied on ALIMCO products?

ALIMCO products are exempted from central Excise and Central Sales Tax. Any other State levy if applicable, is payable extra and will have to be borne by the buyer.
