Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Ayushman Bharat Yojana or National Health Protection Scheme or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) aims to provide a service to create a healthy, capable and content new India. It has two goals:

  • i. Creating a network of health and wellness infrastructure across the nation to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services, and

  • ii. Providing insurance cover over 10.74 crore poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational categories of urban workers’ families as per the latest Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) data, both rural and urban providing coverage upto 5 lakh rupees (per family per year) for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

Additionally, all such enrolled families under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) that do not feature in the targeted group as per SECC data will be included as well. The Scheme was launched on 14 April, 2018.

Ayushman Bharat through CSCs

CSC SPV and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare signed a MoU on 31 July, 2018 at Sansad Bhawan in New Delhi to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme through the CSC Network across the country.
