What is Spoken Tutorial?

Spoken Tutorial is an educational content portal. Here one can learn various Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) all by oneself. Our self-paced, multi-lingual courses ensure that anybody with a computer and a desire for learning can learn from any place, at any time and in a language of their choice.

What is the objective of the program?

The main objective of this project is to promote IT literacy for education and improve the employment potential of learners in India, using free and open source software (FOSS). ICT is an important area that provides jobs to a large number of our students. Software creation, electronic design automation (IC design), numerical computing, and modelling and simulation are some of the ICT areas. It aims to pass on the knowledge of technology and FOSS to the millions in our country, who lack opportunities and/or access to learn any software.

Who all can register in the program?

This project is for the community and by the community. The target group is the community at large, including school children, college students, working professionals, retired professionals, housewives, teachers, trainers, research scholars, software users and developers.

What is the mode of learning?

The learning method in the program is active learning on computer systems and suited for remote/distance education. Engaging digital content of the program ensures that learning happens at all levels - Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. The content mandates side-by-side practice thereby ensuring that learners are actively learning.

In which language is the program available?

The audio of Spoken Tutorials courses is available in all 22 official languages of India, while the video will always be in English. The program promotes translation of these tutorials into different languages. This helps those learners who are not fluent with English to learn software in a language of their choice, thereby increasing their concept clarity.

How one can avail certificate?

End-of-Course online tests and certificates are available for those who wish to test their expertise in particular software. These certificates give an edge to students during placement by increasing their employability potential.

What is the validity of the plans available?

Plan 1 (College Level) and Plan 2 (School Level), both are valid for 1 year.

What is the VLE commission?

Once VLEs purchase any plan, then they will get access to Spoken tutorial dashboard, where they can register any number of students and they can charge any amount to the students. There will not be any CSC commission in the same.

Where will be the examination centre?

VLEs CSC Academy centres will act as the proctored examination centres for the courses.

What is the mode of examination?

An online test is conducted for assessment of the course.

What is the duration of test?

Duration of the test will be between 20¬–45 minutes, depending on the FOSS selected for the test.

What is the minimum percentile required for passing the test?

User will be able to view the certificate only on scoring 40% or above. Thus 40% is the minimum percentile required for clearing the test and attaining the certificate

What if the candidate fails in his/her first attempt of examination?

Participants, who don't pass in the test, will get a chance to re-attempt the Test after a gap of 15 days
