What is need of the course?

For first-line maintenance and upkeep of BharatNet network, there is a huge requirement of trained manpower at ground level. Candidates would get adequate technical knowledge and benefits after completion of training.

Trained youth will able to performing various activities like identification of hardware and system, proper maintenance, patrolling activities to do the surveillance in various fibre stretches, safeguarding to avoid fibre cut, preventive and corrective maintenance, test link attributes like the splice loss/link loss after the rectification of faults, carrying out splicing and termination of optical fibre as and when the fault is reported for the maintenance of BharatNet. These skilled manpower will further explore new business opportunity.

What is mode of training in the course?

Training will be imparted in on-line mode followed by instructor led medium and digital content access.

What is the course’s duration?

The course is conducted for 10 days with a total duration of training for 28 hours. It includes:
Self study approach through digital content for at least 3 hours per day for 8 days and 4 Virtual Classroom sessions of 1 hour each which will be conducted for candidate’s training.

What are required eligibility criteria for joining the course?

Eligibility criteria required to join the course are:
Minimum qualification: Education preferably equivalent to diploma
Age criteria: Between 18 years.

What is the assessment process?

Practice assessments after every module and two complete practice assessment at the end of the training program will be conducted for evaluation of candidate’s performance. On completion of the training program, a third party assessment would be conducted by an Assessment Body designated by Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and all successful participants will be certified by TSSC.

What is the course schedule?

The course schedule includes:

How is training imparted under the course?

Under the course training will be imparted in blended mode i.e. digital content and instructor led training. Candidate has the freedom to direct his/her own study schedule.

How is the course significant in assessment of job opportunities?

India requires over 2,00,000 OFS Technicians as part of the BharatNet Project for installation and maintenance of the broadband at Gram Panchayats in India, thus there are large employment opportunities for the OFS trained and certified as part of this project.
